  • Dealer End of Year Leverage

    Howdy,

In my mind this week is the perfect time to buy a car since the dealer doesn't want to make a payment on it in Jan nor do they want to get taxed on having it at the year roll over. Now mind you this is all something I've come up with on my own through vauge experience and car commercials.

What sort of leverage do I have over the dealer at this time of year and is there a magic point at which the dealer has to pay taxes on thier inventory and therefore is really motivated to unload a vehicle?

    Thanks,

My wife is pressuring me to buy now.
I'm a newly wed, and my 10-99 is going to cancel her less than 35K with 2 kids refund....I know, to much TMI...
There is a lot of BS coming up that we need to figure out....<---thats what I tell her, we haven't had a car payment in years, plus full coverage insurance.
Is this her way of lighting a fire under my ass?
I need to come up with another $100 a week...another $15 a day. Sounds easy....How would you come up with another $15 a day?
I look at it as another $500 a month!

I don't think he means take a dump, he means discontinue your cable or satellite service.

The only reason I have cable (fiber in my case) is for internet access so I can irritate you guys. I'm wondering about dropping it and going with a mobile hotspot.

The Wife and I just bought a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. A month ago it was listed at $31,500. We bought it for quite a bit less than that. Shoot a week ago they had dropped it ti under $30,000.
                    OH YEAH
                    Long haul 07. 08. 10, 11, and 13. Looking forward to 2014

To try to bring this back on track to what I originally asked, is there anything special about the end of Dec beyond the fact it's the end of a month just like the other 11?

Driving to Lincoln, NE won't be cheap but there just simply isn't want I'm looking for within a 400mi radius of me. I want maxium leverage if I drive that far.

I cannot add any really good stuff to this other than to say that December is historically the worst month for new car sales every year. If you are looking for a month to find a desperate sales person or dealer willing to shuck and jive for a sale, this is the one.

Great deals on Saabs these days.

                            HA! I crack myself up.
                            Seriously, like 50% off.

Prerequisite: extremely large cajones, and a willingness to drop the car like a bad habit in 3-4 years when it starts to crap out.
