  • Manual tire changers

I have an old manual tire changer that has a pneumatic bead breaker on the bottom. I've used it a few time in the past but now it's getting harder to use it because it was designed for 13-15 narrow rims. I can't get a rim much wider then about 6.5" wide on it. Yesterday I was at Tractor Supply killing a few minutes. I saw a manual tire changer that will do a rim from 8" to a light truck rim for $54. So I picked it up but I haven't taken it out of the box in case I want to return it if it's a piece of crap. I'm not looking to use it o a regular basis just when I need it on my cars. I have a bubble balancer and an old Hunter on the car high speed balancer as well...which will only work on 13,14 &15" wheels.

This is what I bought, any body use one like this and is it worth it? http://www.tractorsupply.com/larin-m...2#BVRRWidgetID

I've used the Harbor Freight version - quite possibly made by the same company. I've used it on up to 10" wide rims but it's not that good, better with taller profile tires. Hard work getting any old stiff tires off as well.

what type of machine is your old one? depending on the style, they might make an extension for wider rims?

Is your handy man jack broke? I use a heel bar. I have a buddy who uses a garden hoe, and fast as any shop I might add.

I do hate changing tires though.
