If I had the choice between a Pacifica or the infamous PedoVan, I'd be pimpin' the worst Aerostar EVER first.

My kids bought a newer (post-Daimler) Pacifica and so far it's been OK (I don't remember the year but it must be around the year that you're looking at). It pretty much just cruises the streets of St. Paul, MN with my daughter-in-law and the Grands and I have no clue what it would do with more severe duty.

Brian said that theirs has been HORRIBLE but his understanding was that the newer ones are improved (they couldn't get worse). As long as you don't pay too much and it comes with some sort of warranty it might be worth a chance.

It's a tempting car with 3 rows of seats and a nice interior feel so I can see why the wife might be interested. Still, you're at the point that you could make a different choice so you might want to. The DIL is allergic to minivans but I seriously think that one of those would have been a better choice. In fact, both DIL's seem to have a STRONG aversion to minis although the Michigan DIL did eventually pull the trigger on an Odyssey and loves it, though she won't admit its a mini. (knocking on wood) The St. Paul clan seems to be OK with theirs so far.

              Best of luck
              Dan

And you'll be able to tow, too.

Yeah.... along the lines of the Caprice wagon but with a bit more earthiness:

I have one of these. Only bad thing about it is the $100 distributor cap on the opti-spark.

Kid #3 is about to burst out of my wife any day now. We're facing the same quandary.

I've decided if we're going to have to have something that sucks it might as well haul and tow and fit anything I want to put inside of it.

Therefore we've decided a Ford E350 12 passenger fan is in our future. I'll remove the back seat and we'll have plenty of room for our dog too and camping gear. Not to mention I can still tow a trailer.

I test drove one and made my wife drive around a walmart parking lot and she's okay with it. Most newer ones even have backup sensors and I'm thinking about adding an aftermarket DVD player with a backup camera anyway...

I can even come to Bangshift events and we'll call it the Bangbus! Um, maybe not.

3500 Express baby! 1-ton of hauling goodness, room for 12 legally, tows anything with ease with the 6.0 LQ4 and beats the FIL's mileage on his similar quad cab truck. Pull 6 pins and all 3 rows of seats are out in 5 minutes.

MIL calls it the YoderToter, but then she also swears her Town-n-country is a full size too......

Only thing I say to the E350 is try to compare the turning radius to the Chevy van before pulling the trigger. There is a difference.

With a suburban you can still look like you own the world, and not have that look-of-hopeless-despair that a minivan drivers have in spades.

                              what's a Yoder?

We have a large semi-local population of Amish, Yoder is a very common surname. Add that to the fact that they do not drive automobiles, but will instead hire a driver to transport them to a worksite and back home. The most common vehicle to haul a crew of Amish is a 12-passenger van.

Hence the slur. Hey, I didn't make it up.....
