    Re: "Weirdest" taste in cars

An odd one I almost forgot about. Ford Fiesta w/Rover aluminum V-8. There is or was a company who sold the conversion kit in Europe. I found it in the back of a British car magazine.

The Rover V8 was, of course, the same as the Buick. The Brits bought the rights and casting machinery from GM some time back, and refined the casting process to reduce the number of bad castings. So I'm guessing the Buick would work for this swap too, as long as they didn't change the back of the block.

I don't know who else but the weirdo in me would want a 1984 LeSabre 2dr with a 4.1L V6 standard that I'd hop up with a combination of Grand National turbo parts and Caprice 9C1 driveline parts to make into something I'd drive every day with a WH1 paint scheme and old Buick Road Wheels in 15x7 though I might have to change that to fit the 9C1 front brakes.

Of all the bizarre combos I've heard of people scheming up, that my friend, takes the cake....hell it takes the cupcakes and muffins too.

I'm alerting the authorities. Some nice gentlemen in white coats will be escorting you to a place you can "relax" at.

Sounds perfectly normal to me-a fine idea.

I did quite a few head gaskets on those leaker 4.1s , my neighbor even had a nice 1980 coupe deville with a 4.1 - smokey built a blown 4.1 for a hrm giveaway 32 ford
I think the turbo swap would blow a 4.1 to smithereens

                    Re: "Weirdest" taste in cars

We'll see if it does on my current 4.1L Turbo motor. Its hardly a stocker though, 4340 forged crank, 4340 forged rods, forged pistons, billet main caps, top and bottom studs... I purposely put weak headgaskets in it so they'd pop under detonation, cheaper than custom forged pistons.
Anyway, I think its a bit of a pipe dream right now since I don't have the need for another hot rod. I think a small "senior compact" with either the 215 to EFI or swap in a L36 is a bit more likely though my fiance is oggling an '85 Riviera T-type in black on red (she loves burgandy interior cars) on eBay.

                      Re: "Weirdest" taste in cars

Man, that's gonna be a hard one to top...but hell, let's give it a shot anyways.

Car: 1978 Chrysler LeBaron Medallion Coupe (the big quarter-window), no vinyl top, tuck rear bumper in, swap front bumper from a '74-77 Camaro, lighten and tuck in, drop at least 2" all the way around from stock any way possible. Paint Chrysler Turbine Bronze, re-chrome all chrome, LED taillights, markers, backups, turn signals. Keep the fender-mounted turn signal indicators and LED them too. Must have the "Imperial Eagle" hood ornament and taillight birds. Keep doorhandles, but shave all locks and automate them to a remote sensor. Shave the gas filler cap, and either move it to a better spot like on the top of the rear fender or hide it altogether in the trunk with a sheetmetal build-around for it. Remove stocker eggcrate portion of grille, black mesh the inner portion and find the "Chrysler" script (like on late-80's New Yorkers) and mount it in the SE portion.

Running Gear: Mopar 400 Stroker with a twin-turbo setup similar to Kevin Alexander's Belvedere ("Feets" on Moparts). Expecting 550+hp and relative torque. Connect to 727 with upgrades, connected to Gear Vendors U/O, out to a 8 1/4 packing 3.23, possibly a locker? Aluminum "iso-biscuit", polyurethane bushings...not sure if I'd 'bag the car or just lower it yet. I'm leaning toward bags for the luxury point of the overall idea. Brakes, go nuts...thinking at least the Cordoba 11" front swap, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee rear disc conversion out back. Thinking 17s/18s rim/tire on this setup.

Interior: Would find the 88-89 roof-mount compass/trip computer and install it. Would do a custom panel setup with stock-looking gauges...140 mph speedo and tach in the big pods, fuel, oil, temp and amp in the small gauges, with better green backlighting. Take the section where the shifter indicator is, convert that to an LED boost gauge. Floor shifter out of any FMJ, with a better shifter mechanism, and mount the U/O switch in thumb reach. Vintage Air the HVAC system, Sattelite/MP3 system with Infinity speakers (I prefer), other than a reshape keep the stock seats and patterns, cloth, not leather (I hate sticking to my cars!), maybe modifiy the rear seats to kinda recline into the trunk space...?

Luxury cruiser. ;D If I EVER have a few million fall out of my 4th point, bet anything I WILL build this car.

(It's boredom, ya'll! I swear! I've been thinking up ways to modify the SuperBeater Nissan, the Regal, anything I can get my hands on. I even looked at our John Deere Gators to see if there's a way to cram a streetbike motor into it..)
                      Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

                        Re: "Weirdest" taste in cars

Maybe not a weird taste, but unusual anyway. Take a SN95 Mustang, cut the body off leaving only the unibody, firewall, and suspension, lengthen it to make it the appropriate wheel base, then drop a 66 Comet GT body over the top of it. Add air supsension, a Cobra DOHC 4.6, a supercharger and a 5 speed. Sounds very cool to me, and the best part is that this car is being built. It's a runner, and the body is being prepped for paint now, then it will be put back together.

you would make more power with pushrods , like a 351

Owner/builders decision. I personally prefer pushrods too.

I dunno if it's weird exactly, but I've had the hots for this since I ran across it last Saturday:
