  • Send some good vibes Big Daddy's way

Don Garlits had to put his wife Pat in hospice over the weekend and the next day he suffered a mild stroke. Apparently he is doing OK and has no lasting effects, but this hasn't been a good stretch for him with the passing of TC and now Pat's seemingly imminent demise. Lots of weight for an 80 year old guy to carry.

Hang in there Big,where all with you.

In 1992 my opinion changed 180deg on Big,he gave me a personel tour of a new car for the museum, about 1/2 an hour worth, my friend got it all on tape. It was awsome to say the least, the guy was(IS) one of us and he was just like a kid checking out his new car.

Before I really knew who he was I had a poster of one of his fire burnouts on my wall. Hang in there Big Daddy, we're all pulling for you.

Met him once when I visited his museum. Super nice guy!

I said HI to him at the museum and he was cordial in return. No chance to chat (he was on his way to somewhere) but a nice encounter.

Anyhow - after Mom's death I know the family is in great hands with Hospice. We had Suncoast Hospice and it's close enough to Ocala that it may be who they're using, too. These folks are angels and that's no joke.

Best to Mr. Garlits and family
