  • Old electronics--Delta Mark Ten B

I bought this thing on ebay a few years ago.

I finally installed it...on my 57 one ton. The truck has a stockish 73 car 454, with a Qjet and point ignition. I haven't gone for a drive with it yet, but it does seem to run fine sitting here idling. The ignition box is from 1973, so it matches the engine pretty well.

It'll be interesting to see how it works in service. We had a bunch of these types of devices at EPA as the manufacturers would send them in for evaluation. They wanted to be able to say "EPA Approved" or "EPA Tested and Approved" - any way to try to attach credibility to their gizmo. But EPA never did that and still don't as it gives a trade advantage to one entity over another and besides, they REALLY didn't want to hear what we found for most devices. (Not saying THIS one didn't work but most were snake oil). Seems like these things were virtually always left at the lab and they usually left when there was a purge style clean-up. Some of them were scooped out of the trash by one of us guys and repurposed, which was the fate of some of the ignition boxes.

So the Delta looks familiar though I can't say for sure we had one. I know there was a Mallory that one of my buddies salvaged.

Otherwise you'll be dis-a-POINT-ed, I suppose. (Sorry, the Devil made me type it.)
