aero = corporate .00001 mpg savings.

the white/freightliner taught them nothing apparently.

the old w900, or 359ex etc..
    that is a drivers rig.
I sat in petes version of wiggling aero bubble..something loves the dash. looking it over, it is defenseless... into the wind that friendly is oddities of physics right at the driver.

as long as they get big sales, the classics can keep emerging as well. I just don't like the aero.

Aero is fugly...kinda dig the color...sorta. rather see the classic any day of the week.

EDIT.. I was thinking of the truck in the BLOG.

        Sorry.

I kinda like it. Front shot make me think of the old 50's COE trucks.

Not a big fan of passenger car hybrids, but I have been wondering why diesel/electric powertrains have not become more popular in OTR trucks. I mean it's been the industry standard for locomotives and large earth moving equipment for a long long time now.

My opinion is, good front aero makes little difference if you do not effectively address side and rear trailer drag.

I bet the benefit is overweighed by the weight. They've been doing diesel/hybrid transit busses for awhile now and get tremendous savings in stop and go traffic - but on steady state cruise, I can't imagine adding 10k (a guess on my part) or more in weight would help - especially since truckers make money based on weight capability.

            Nice trucks!
Sorry but the aero is here to stay, been around since the mid 80-s and KW are improving them. KW has more than just aero trying to improve mileage, these guys are working constantly with Cummins. We have 8 new T660's with 525HP ISX engines and 13 speeds. Those trucks are unbelievable with mileage, our trucks with loaded tankers are pulling 84000 lbs. in mountainous areas and are getting over 6 mpg. Each service the trucks go through, all the data is being reviewed and reported back to our CEO. Mileage from previous KW's is up almost 1 MPG. Figure it up ,each of the 8 new trucks 850 miles a day , 6 days a week. Nice savings at the end of the year.

If I was a trucker, I would have something like that. For me it would be a money-making tool, not a show piece. Can't say I think it looks awesome or ugly either way, and don't really care.
