One of the other occasional foibles of the drag strip management scene is when your customers try to kill you.

That's me crapping my pants up in front of the car.
I was working as the race director on this day and we were having a problem with one of the timing lights at the 1/8th mile. Like I've done a million times before, I rode down on the scooter with a new infra-red to swap out, normally a 2 minute job.
I always peek over the wall to see what's coming down the track as I crouch next to it. I saw this Maverick coming up and I knew it was always good for a big wheelie. I heard it launch and then it started sounding weird with the driver whomping the throttle. I looked up and saw what you are seeing here!
It didn't end all that well for the car.
