You don't think the SIMs make DF work out of a cubical, do you? The cubical-simp I criticized is the dude, not DF, at Hot Rod.com who claimed that the 2013 GT500 wouldn't be on sale before 2012 DW*Originally posted by dieselgeek View PostIt's intersting you wait for 17 pages until *I* make a comment, because if what you say is true then you've been giggling for 4 days at Speedzter's beyond-crybaby pissing and moaning because he forgot to pay attention and sign up to Drag Week. Now, since he missed out on it, it's nothing but "Drag Week Sucks" and "Freiburger is a Cubicle Dwelling Moron" and every other complaint in the book. Where's your giggle-commentary been for all that? Seriously, you don't need to answer. We understand.
DW* doesn't "suck" per se. The sign-up method HRM used this year sort of did, mainly because it was inconsistent with what they did in 2011 and didn't give the print-only subscribers a fair opportunity. And technically, DW*'s not as long or grueling as the event DF got the idea from (One Lap of America). And charging spectators to watch time trials (not real drag racing) is max corporate greed personified.
If I thought DW* "sucked," why would I: (a) Lament missing the sign-up; (b) advocate OEM participation in it; (c) suggest modest improvements; (d) repeatedly wish all the "insiders" and dudes who were paying attention on-line during a week in March a big pile of fun competiting this year?
I say, stick to engine building and leave the critical thinking skills to . . . .Comment

Your attempt at a condescending, make-me-look-stupid post would carry a lot more meaning if you knew how to spell the word "cubicle."
FYI, I am a network & storage engineer, not an engine builder. Neither am I a whiny Marketroid, which I believe is (was) your profession, yes?www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

Do you always quote peoples' posts at random and act like they were talking to you? That's a little bit... odd, if you ask me. Thanks for the fine compliments, I appreciate them, now please stop being Mr Creepy, ok?Originally posted by oldsman496 View PostEverybody's got one. ----- that is, ...an entertaining side to thier personality... as to why i didn't post before now... well, i just in general, don't post as much as you do. and i wanna be the first to say an honest thankyou for your ideas and opinions. and i am being serious here. i really wanna update on that O2 injected motor... but that's for another thread... sorry. if we didn't have different opinions and ways of expressing them, well... these threads wouldn't be nearly as entertaining. pls don't be mad.

TC, if you spent half the time working on your "projects" as you spend on the internet, you might actually have a need for that timing light you last used in '71.www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

You have yet to make a Valid point in any of this crying your doing....Originally posted by Speedzzter.blogspot View Post1. For those oblivious to anything but the 1320 (not mentioning any names), One lap of America is a series of TIME TRIALS for street legal cars at a variety of venues, including road courses, drag strips, oval tracks, dirt tracks and autocrosses. Although twisty stuff predominates, One Lap has time trialed on at least one of the same drag strips as DW*.
2. Excluding the spectacular Daily Driver bracket race eliminator, HRM's DW* is a series of . . . TIME TRIALS (not actual drag races) for street legal cars at a variety of drag strips.
3. DF has repeatedly admitted that his idea for DW* was inspired by One Lap of America (i.e. traveling to a series of race tracks for time trials in street cars).
4. One Lap is actually much more challenging than DW*. For example, One Lap limits competitiors to one set of fairly hard DOT tires for the entire event (unless a tire must be replaced for safety). No slicks or autocross tires allowed. One Lap is also longer, runs more time trials, and visits more venues over the course of the event. One Lap limits the number of laps a competitior may run at each venue and provides for, at most, one practice lap before timing starts. Most One Lap venues run time trials rain or shine. One Lap has a more grueling travel schedule that virutally requires a co-driver for the "transit" stages.
5. One Lap is wholly unlike the Power Tour. The Power Tour isn't a competition. The Power Tour isn't scored or timed. The Power Tour infrequently provides for opportunities to run at speed on a race track.
In short, JeffMcKC does not have a valid criticism of the original point about factory participation at One Lap. Nor do those who would object to similar factory-backed efforts at DW*.
Irrelevant to the point of whether or not factory-backed cars ought to run DW*. Presumably, if the OEMs were involved, they'd be monitoring the web and paying attention to HRM's ridiculous registration scheme. Or they'd simply contract with proven "insiders" to run factory stuff, as they often have for other drag racing events.
No one kept the Factory cars out or you. If you had not been so busy thinking of ways to cry then you would have entered in the 2 weeks it took to fill the feild with cars and so could any Factory team that wanted to.
