I feel like we are in a therapy session.

Shoot, if I made a list like that of all the times my shit boxes have been scoffed, it would be daily and 300 pages long.
That which you manifest is before you.

But the thing is that except for the LeMans, the Falcon, and Turbo Coupe, all of the cars "scoffed" were new or reasonably pristine performance cars (I left out the stories on the ordinary vehicles).

I watched for registration to open and registered and whichever car I take it will get the shit flogged out of it.07 I took my DD because primary car wasn ready.09 I rode with Jeff and we didnt make the call for Indy.Last year I took a wore out piece of shit and I finished.(Sorry to those that were behind me and had to use their wipers due to the smoke) butI followed what was happening here and on HRs site. Its an addiction but this will be my last year.Tired of hearing people bitch about they didnt know when DW was, registration etc.Pay attentin if you realy want to attend. Its an event of a lifetime.I'll take my 12 second car and enjoy this year and next year someone can take my place.Ive made many friends on DW and that I will always cherish. If we could just get an annoucner this year!! LOL.

Oh wait, most of them were "store bought" performance cars . . . never mind.

Not trying to harsh your buzz, but Dude, based on when they had registration in 2011, I thought I was paying sufficient attention . . . .

Why should I waste anymore money on the HRM in print if everything is going to happen on their terrible website?

Don't think the therapy is taking. It sounds like teenage girls. Poor poor pitiful me.

When I talked about being laughed off the premises I was referring to the statement "and if I ran Ford there'd be a factory-backed contingent of thus-modified GT500's at DW." That would be like bringing a .50BMG to a fist fight. I can just picture the Ford semi's rolling in with the ultra high-dollar factory prepped cars and squadron of mechanics in their Ford coveralls swarming all over the cars.
Another analogy would be Ford Nascar teams showing up at the local 1/4 mile oval.

I don't care what you bring to DW but what does it for me is the underdog who perserveres to a respectable finish against all odds. Kinda the American way.

Now if Ford wanted to enter a world recognized and renowned event like say Bonneville that I could respect.

OK Speedo go ahead and twist everything around to what you want it to be so you can trash me again.

LOL. I wished I would have paid for my car what it cost new.

apparently speedy, other people were paying a little more attention than you.
Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

That doesn't exactly sound like OldMachinist is open to "store-bought" DW* entries, does it?

Considering that DW* seems to get as much publicity as Bonneville these days, I respectfully disagree with your attempt to draw a distinction. Back in the '50s, a bunch of bootleggers bashing around on dirt bullrings wasn't very important when the factories took notice. And NHRA was hardly running a major sport when the factories took notice. The year before the NHRA moved the Nationals to Detroit, the strip they used didn't even have one permanent grandstand.

With respect, Speedy is a Ford man. Finishing behind 200 other people is kind of the MO.

I've already admitted my spectacular error. My point is that registration shouldn't be so inconsistent, poorly managed, obscure and internet biased. I don't expect any of the "tweeting/texting while driving/"Iphoney" generation to agree with any old guy who still relies primarily on "paper" magazines for "news."

Yeah, and my Marauder would whip the residual doughnut flakes out of your cop car, Bro. (I wouldn't even need to bring the Coyote Mustang) . . . .
