I did a brake job on the neighbors 1999 Durango. 122,585 miles. Not a off road truck. Light foot Lady driven hauling NO trailer, just 3 kids. Farm road the most off road it has ever been. I did a brake job on the front. While cleaning and adjusting the rear brakes I found both rear leaf springs shaped like this. WTF?

I did advise her to think about something newer since I found quite a few items that are going to take them down the nickel and dime path real soon. Anyone else seen this on a Dodge?

They are supposed to look like that. Check out some of the literature from 98 when durangos first came out.

is the design intentional? I am sure part of it must be. Springs don't just do that.

A cut down S-10 main leaf will fix that.
My friend fixed his wrapped Cherokee XJ springs like that, worked great.

pretty sure the durango was really marketed towards soccer moms and want a soft car ride, I mean thats usually all I see driving them. the front is transferring the load to the rear where nobody will feel it.

Rear Suspension System

Where are the safety jack stands?
My 98 springs have a slight curve also 238k miles & yes it's been off road
