Just got back from the doctor..........

    Shingles!

Thought I had poison oak.......was wondering
how I got it on my back.

I've had to take a pain pill to sleep last two nights.

Upside at least I know what it is.......if you've ever
had Chicken Pox your succeptible and there's a vaccine.

I'm scheduled for the shot as soon as this clears up.
    Damn this stuff is painful.

That sucks. Hope it goes away soon. Funny thing, I've never had chickenpox so if I catch it, supposedly it's much worse.

I saw on the news that shingles are making the rounds this year in adults. Hope you feel better soon.

I was about to come down with shingles but opted for vinyl siding instead. (Sorry - had to say it).

Dad had shingles for several years before he died. Doc said it was mostly brought on by stress (Dad was wound WAY too tight)but I don't know if modern medicine supports that cause. It was NASTY for him, for sure.

So if I've had chicken pox (I have) should I get the vaccine? Or do you wait until you have the symptoms?

Grandma had it... Most laid back sweetie there ever was... Sure was painful for her..
Hope it clears up and the vaccine works...

Read WEDMD... Says everybody over 50 should get the shingles vaccine.. Except those with compromised Immune systems or recent chemo.
There is more info... Guess I need one...

I would recommend it (from Dr. Monk) before it shows up.
I've noticed several tv commercials about it lately.

I can't have mine done until it clears up.........the vaccine has to be kept frozen and
then once taken out of fridge has to be administered within 30 minutes.

I'd take vinyl siding if it was less painful.

let me clarify, I knew shingles were real...but figured it was one of those rare things only old timers get...not young bucks like Monk.

Doc said it usually hits folks over 70..........but he's seen several
cases in people in their 30's.

                        It's a mo-fo that's for sure.

What's with all these people I know, getting "shingles" this past year?

A close friend in his 50s who wires up most of the cars I tune here locally, got shingles in the spring and it was very painful. Couldn't stand to have his hair get cut, he looked like Grizzly Adams until getting it cut a few weeks ago.

Then a coworker got it as well. I'm told it's similar to Adult Chicken Pox but that is all I know about it.

some other kid on our local streetracing forum got some crazy virus that caused spots all over his hands and feet, apparently he's doing better now but.... damn.

I hope you get better quick Monk!

Feel better Monk, I know a guy around here that got it too,hes better now but it was painful. I heard Mumps were making a comeback too,I thought people didnt get this stuff anymore since immunizations were/are required today. I guess something brought it back.
