Freakin' ridiculous. A US manufacturing company goes under because people pour gas on fires.
Blitz is done.

"there will be a severe shortage of gas cans"..... okay, so if competition is not forcing them to keep their prices the same, why is it they blame litigation for closing their doors? why not raise your prices and keep manufacturing? oh wait, blame someone else for your own inability to compete.... it's the American wayDoing it all wrong since 1966 -
I doubt they could raise prices high enough to deal with the results of the litigation, etc AND maintain market share. They deal with big box stores and probably are tightly nailed down on price flexibility.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Really?
The company that makes the container is responsible for the idiot that uses the container to pour gasoline on an open flame?
Sort of the "spoons make rosy fat" argument aint it?There's always something new to learn.Comment

They're far from being the only company who is saying "screw it" because of litigious bullshit. A few of them are hitting even closer to home.Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View Post"there will be a severe shortage of gas cans"..... okay, so if competition is not forcing them to keep their prices the same, why is it they blame litigation for closing their doors? why not raise your prices and keep manufacturing? oh wait, blame someone else for your own inability to compete.... it's the American waywww.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!Comment

Prices on plastic gas cans are already extremely high for what the product is...to the point that we avoid buying them at all (i.e. the cost of the product is not commensurate with it's usefulness). Raising the prices more, to the point where the company could become healthy and actually have money in the bank, will only bring more litigation as the crowd rushes in to get a piece of it. That circle will never end but this way, there ain't no money therefore, won't be anybody after it.Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View Post"there will be a severe shortage of gas cans"..... okay, so if competition is not forcing them to keep their prices the same, why is it they blame litigation for closing their doors? why not raise your prices and keep manufacturing? oh wait, blame someone else for your own inability to compete.... it's the American way
There really isn't any competition as no one else wants to be in that rotten business. To buy a gas can in this town that isn't a Blitz, you spend thirty bucks for a chunk of yellowish plastic that conforms to NO environmental or safety regulations and is specifically "labeled" as NOT for combustible materials use. That is the only way to sell a gas can these days and even they're playing a risky game....Comment

Yeah it's tough to sue China. Once they've got the container on the boat, they're done with it. It's kinda a special deal we give them so that they can have a manufacturing industry and we can't. Hope they'll continue to sell to our army when things get dicey between us.Last edited by Loren; August 2, 2012, 07:35 AM....Comment

Sounds like a gas can would fix this problem.Originally posted by studemax View PostThis is the fault of lawyers who make stupid laws, and who then make money from lawsuits that resulted from their stupid laws.

Prove the first sentence - and I know you can't. Laws are the result of people crying to the media that "someone should do something"Originally posted by studemax View PostThis is the fault of lawyers who make stupid laws, and who then make money from lawsuits that resulted from their stupid laws.

As for what mr. shakespear said... it's funny how you don't know the first line of that statement. Maybe you can sue your teacher for not teaching you?
