    Man Food

It's an odd time at work where I don't *have* any work, so I spent the majority of yesterday on Pinterest looking at recipes and plotting to overthrow Martha Stewart. Lo and behold, I found something that just screams MAN FOOD.

    Maple Bourbon Bacon Jam

Now, I haven't tried it yet (I'm waiting for Bryan to get here next week to be my "official taste tester"), but if some brave soul wants to go ahead and make it...or sweetly ask their significant other to make it...I'd love to hear how it goes. The recipe is here. Oh, and feel free to add your own man food recipes...anything you think Bryan may be able to cook!

Meat, fire, some sort of metal grate over fire, salt and pepper..... that should do it! ;-)
There's always something new to learn.

Slice a green chili open and insert a jalapeno .... set aside

Clean game bird of your choice (I prefer dove), and rub w/salt, pepper & onion powder

Install chili/jalapeno combo w/a few green onions into bird, wrap with bacon and grill SLOWLY, to perfection

Serve with slushy beer of you choice and warm corn tortillas
Whiskey for my men ... and beer for their horses!

No beer here. That game bird idea sounds good...
        Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

            Take lard.
            Freeze.
Roll in your fave bread crumb recipe
            Deep fry (preferably in lard).

            Now THERE'S man food!

Oh, and it's been done, at Crazy Jim's Blimpie Burger in Ann Arbor, MI - though not part of their regular offerings.

Somebody needs to teach Bryan how to grill lol. Despite my fascination with fire I don't grill unless I absolutely have to.

Bet its tasty. My brother in-law recently had a burger made of ground bacon, topped with bacon slices and bacon embedded cheese.

getting a guy to cook. It took me years to realize why I do not cook. why?
I am not satisfied from the previous meals.
build up a stash as prmitive as caveman, the imagination for cooking comes after the belly gets what it wants. It is true for men in my locale anyway. I learned it after disabled, and needing to respect a life and death diet.

this is smoked, precooked. I get it at the local meat market. A little 3 pounder. I brown the skin at 425F while not frozen…Mmmm. it is like I made the whole thing myself, but only have to wait 30 minutes instead of hours. Fill the room with nice odor to boot.

my personal statsh. this is twenty something pounds. I have strict diet due to a manly “illness”. I space this over 3 weeks. All in this freezer is part of bigger meals, could be as simple as pasta, or a stir fry, etc etc. Chicken, pork and hamburg. Steak is too expensive for me to buy in slabs. I get those one at a time.

How about bacon, wrapped in sausage, wrapped in bacon and then put on the smoker for a few hours.

My latest favorite, Johnsonville Brats simmered in beer until done, wrapped in peppered bacon then grilled. Put them on a steak hoagie roll, covered in onions, chili and cheddar cheese.

They make them with bits of jalapenos now too - pretty good stuff.
