Downsizing and keeping all the cars will only get you the label Joe Dirt. All those cars have to go somewhere, and not everyone has our exquisite taste in historical vehicular collections.
I tried that with 1/24th scale cars and it doesn't work!

              Yep, for a price.

Yea - insulation isn't cheap no matter what you use, and with the price of heating these days, even the more expensive options start to have ROI's that make sense.

I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is you only need to heat where you're working. There's no reason to heat a whole 60x120 building for example.... insulate wire and plumb a part of it you're going to work in, and leave the rest unheated for storage only.

Saw a thing on PBS, they were talking about soy beans..
They make expanding foam insulation with it and fuel for their multi engined pulling tractors.
Unfortunately it is a little $$$ and regionalized "

I suppose cold on cold makes more cold?
But if you have a candle inside, supposed to overcome the cold however marginally..
                      Like a stove or furnace...

nope - that's the urethane stuff SBG, which is closed cell and heavy. Icynene is the light stuff that remains somewhat flexible and allows water / vapor to get through it (handy when you have a metal roof with this stuff sprayed on the underside like I do - with a couple roof leaks I can't seem to find/fix)

I DO KNOW...the stuff in the can is very VERY flameable..
Old trick was to foam the dizzy cap into a blob to protect it from breakage, plus the car still runs with 4-5 cyl firing...
Tearing a car apart, torch sparks started a fire... NEVER again! That stuff STINKS for days...
