  • The Land of Giants - 2012 Las Vegas Mine Expo.

A few shots from the 2012 Las Vegas Mine Expo. Brian is already insanely jealous

A row of CAT's biggest trucks. 797 and two 793's.

    From inside a CAT 797F

    Data Sheet.

    A decent sized loader.

    A CAT Locomotive.

    The Train's specs.

    A Hitachi Shovel.

    Me for scale.

    The Komatsu variant.

    Purely for scale

    Another 400ton hauler.

    It's spec's

One big ass production drill rig.

Not sure even Larson's Nova could break these rear end parts.

There was a Mustang at one of the booths.

With a surprise under the hood.

And a guy riding an Ostrich!

GEEEZ, i cant imagine the man hours it took to assembly and disassemble all that equipment for the expo, i know it takes a crew of 5 a week to put together a 793, BUT those are just static displays, but still ... wow

Think how little roof clearance they have with the cranes. I'm always amazed the concrete comes out okay with ~250tons of truck sitting on it. Not to mention the shovel's and dozer's.

                  A locomotive!!!

Seriously, I've a friend in the stone crusher business, and another in the stone quarry business - their stuff is tiny compared to yours...

But how in the bloody blazes do you get a locomotive into an expo building?!? THAT I would like to see!

A guy on the V8Buick board was wondering and saying the same thing. Of all the giant things in the building, the locomotive is far from the heaviest or most akward to move and transport =P

My theory is that they laid tracks from the rail yard to the expo building then picked them up while the show was on, but that's a SWAG - no real info here. Or they took it apart to pieces that they could handle and reassembled it?

Cool to see the pics and I know Bruab is panting in a corner somewhere. Poor Mrs. Bruab - how can she compete with porn like this?

Glad you could make the show, Randall. Hope you had a great time.
