      That is a crying shame!
Bob was the funniest guy in drag racing.

I was at Heartland Park Topeka when Chuck Etchells broke the 4 second barrier... Bob had just interviewed Tim Richards before the run, and Richards said "There's not a 4 in this thing - no way". Then Chuck broke the record... As soon as the crowd settled down, Bob was on the mike - "Hey, Tim - liar, liar, pants on fire!". The crowd went nuts laughing....

One of the true greats! Cool that he's able to leave on his own terms and enjoy the rest of his life with his family.

does the calling ever leave or will Bob announce for the grandkids running the Shopping Cart Nationals at the piggly wiggly? Thanks for the memories Bob!

glad he is retiring on his own, instead of passing away in a motel by himself, as did another great.

I was supprised too, I've talked to him a few times and I think he's a really nice guy. I'll miss him. Anyone heard who is going to replace him?

IMO- Bob is second only to Steve Evans. Both have (had) great voices and actual knowledge of the sport. That is something that is missing in a lot of today's commentating.

Racing will never be the same.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

Bloom has mad skills. Great choice as an announcer.
