    Coast-to-Coast Trip Log

I'll leave right after lunch with ME and buddies. My suitcase is packed and (more importantly for me) my bag of meds is nearly ready. Truck got a bath yesterday though his front wheels will be coated with brake dust long before we get to CA (I hope those pads wear out soon so I can get something cleaner).

The first part of the trip is pretty familiar ground for me. At the end of today I'll be somewhere near Beckley, WV, which is our route to either Michigan or to Wilmington, Ohio and the new ECTA track. Tomorrow evening I'll pull into Columbus OH and that's a trip I've made before. In fact, meeting up with David in Columbus is nothing new. From there on it'll be less familiar territory and therefore more interesting for me.

I'll do my best to post on this thread as we progress across the country. Brief messages will be from the Blackberry (I have a hell of a time typing on it) and longer ones from the lobby computer at the various motels. I HOPE to have pics, too. Wish me luck on all this!

    See y'all in Paso Robles!

DAMN! I was planning to drive recklessly, leaving a path of carnage and destruction behind me. But if you guys insist.....

Seriously - thanks for the kind thoughts. ME has made me promise I'll come home to her in one piece as she actually likes me.

          Leaving soon
          Dan

Dan, drive on the fog line rumble strip from time to time to make sure you stay awake and ensure tire pressure in the side being rumbled..
Speed up thru school zones.. Like 55..
Go the wrong way on the freeway and watch the people become ghosts... After all..it's almost HALLOWEEN..
Play gas station roulette.. See how many you pass when the dash light comes on...
Disregard everything on this list but this and the next..
              Have fun and be safe!

Well guys - me and Truck are in Reynoldsberg, OH and tucked into the motel for the night. David is hale and hearty (whatever the heck THAT means) and I met Garrett, who seems like a nice young man. He's willing to ride mostly in Truck's back seat for the journey but he's a youngun'. We'll let him stretch his legs often given my old guy bathroom habits! (I know, TMI.....)

We transferred some of the stuff from David's van to Truck and it looks like we'll have lots of space and still leave the cab empty except for humans.

I took a couple of pics on the way but I'm on the lobby computer and don't know how to get them off the camera and onto the site. David is bringing a computer with us so we'll work that out later.

Anyhow, we're all ready to go but David needs to check in with the jobsite tomorrow morning for a bit.

                  Look for updates

                        NOW yer talkin'!

I'm up and ready. We'll be shoving off as soon as David gets back from Work and switches to Vacation. No clue if Garrett's up you - he's a teenage boy and they can easily sleep 'till noon.

Pics to follow once we learn how to post them.

We're in Kingdom City, MO last night. Actually, we're just about to shove off in the westerly direction. Saw the Arch yesterday and I thought there ought to be the world's biggest McDonald's under it. That was just after we crossed the Mighty Mississippi.

Truck is running GREAT and David is falling in love.

                            We'll keep you posted.
