THen, half frozen in fear, I would've realized the finish line was coming and just bailed out of it and grabbed the chutes!!

Everyone would be in the pits congratulating me on an awesome job of driving, and I would be stupified, asking myself, "What the hell just happened??"

    Speaking from experience, sounds like...

The car almost blew over backwards, the results of which would have been destruction, injury, possibly death. Common sense in that situation would be to lift. If he was winning, then maybe it was worth the risk. He was loosing. In the drivers shoes, it is hard to accurately assess the situation in real time, but watching on the computer, I say lift. Don't risk it if you are going to loose anyway.

It is 1/8 mile and they claim the last 330 feet has more traction than the first 330.

I'm sittin' here thinking about this, the big question and thread title - would you stay in the throttle?

Hard to say, never having been there. Hard for any of us to say with that many ponies gettin' traction. And it may depend...from my only experience to compare it to, after having spent 2 1/2 days in Ohio to get less than one and a half minute on the track (weather included), I just might stay in it. As long as I could see enough out of the windshield enough to know I'm going straight. With faith in the mechanical accuracy of positive traction.

that is insane! 180's in the low fours! When I think of a really fast car going low 4's I am thinking 0-60...

Watch the video closely. It appears he breaks the MPH beam with the rear tires and the front tires come back to terra firma just before breaking the beams at the finish line. This would make the computer "think" the car covered roughly 10 more feet in the time it took to go from the MPH to the ET beams.

For some reason I almost wanna call bullshit on the MPH. It didn't look that fast to me....and that much MPH should've put more than enough air under it to flip over
