I'm curious as to how many here are "drag racing slotcars " ?

We have a circuit here in the Ohio Valley that races 1/25 scale slot cars on a scale 1/8 mile track .

Let us hear from you .

Man........we did a lot of that back in the day.
I think Groucho has a set up at his place.

How much space does one need for a track?
Every now and then I check out some for sale.

They used to hold the World Slot Car Drag Racing Championship here in Wichita.
I have a couple nephews who drag race slot cars.

I raced in the mid 90s at a track outside Corpus Christi, i bad a nasty fiat altered, super 16 motor, frame made from piana wire. Track was a scaled 1/8th mile, car went as quick as .92 but flew off the track and hit the wall in the back of the hobby shop and totalled the car. I still have a bunch of stuff in a box somewhere

For the 1/8th mile you would need about 45 feet including shut down area .

We build our chassis from piano wire and brass . On that chassis you mount your favorite 1/25th scale model car body .

Reliable and affordable motors are the PARMA Super 16 D .

We race everything from street class to Dragsters .

That's too cool! That's a great way to break the Winter doldrums also. We have a slot car track that just opend here locally several months ago, I'm afraid if I go in there I might get hooked and not have enough money to take care of the Hit List items on the real Hot Rod.

I finally got around to making some progress on one of mine. My first time building one so it has been a big learning curve. 63 Impala

I have what I think used to be called a "womp womp chassis" with a plastic porche body - it wasn't for drag racing ...
my new shop is only 40ft long... dang.
