Well, best to just throw it in the river, we know that. But still....
this lottery is ten times bigger than the little hole its in.
It gets me wondering where such a bogus money gathering event like this puts alot of the funds.
split across all the states involved?
they get much more than the lottery we see.
edit:
I was finding it goes to education or a states general fund. maine must be liking the big lotery right now..as all states would.
I also read michigan alone gathered 770mil just for education via lottery tickets.
its not useless even if we lose. a more fun way for different kind of tax.
education and a lottery. its kinda funny, I made a script and C-library for a programming lesson must be five years ago, related to powerball.I just checked and it still works. simply random number generator, animated graph. this actually took quite a few hours to make, learned a bit doing it.
I do not like the lottery, wanted to know how long a computer would take to drop odds. As in photo, there is 25mil numbers written, I can check for the winning number. will do that later after the draw for giggles.
this program does nothing but write numbers and animate a graph...2000 a second. also my benchmarker of course, for my custom pc.
this little script brought out the damndest replies. I just hide it, mention it once and awhile.Last edited by Barry Donovan; November 28, 2012, 07:50 PM.Previously boxer3main

I've always said "I'd but me a two story mobile home! " ... now I'd have to put one of those two story sheds next to it - the ones they sell at Home Depot.
Yes, I'd seek counsel first. I'm sure I'd be amazed at how many wolves come out of the woods when you win millions of dollars. I have no idea how to protect that sort of wealth.
My list of things I'd like to do or buy is simple: Property, modest house, big garage, travel a lot, donate time and money to charity, help friends and family.

Back some years ago, a rich guy hit the PowerBall. I'm trying to remember he ws in Virginia, I dunno. The pot got big and be bought a hundred numbers, back when they were still a dollar each. He won. The headline story was, "Millionaire Wins Millions." He didn't normally even play the lottery, he just though it would be fun one time.
Boy, was that great advertising. Suggesting that more tickets are better.
At the time when it came to SC I would buy five numbers for every draw. After all, you can't win if you ain't in. The pot got pretty big and Unit was in Pittsburgh nursing her ailing dad so I decided to be naughty. I bought 40 numbers (she didn't know). Like all of the hype about the rich guy suggested, more numbers are better odds.
Well, out of those forty numbers I did not even match three a single time. That broke me right there. How can that be fun? I was ashamed of me. I never even thought about buying a singe ticket again.
Until last night's draw. That pot was ridiculous. Okay two numbers. That'll double the odds from a quinzillion to half a quinzillion.Charter member of the Turd Nuggets

yesterday on the morning radio show, the news man said you have a better chance of being possessed by the devil than winning powerball. Well two people won, so its possible one person is possessed somewhere.
This was 16 draws of no winner, so 8 weeks to make 579 million. If California gets in it should be at half a billion with 5 weeks of losers.

I figured it out playing one of those online gambling simulation games where you don't win or lose anything real. And then I tried it in a real casino with great results (I won some decent money by the end of the night and it took a long time). In any case, it's a slow burn on a bad night if you have enough chips to start with. Bet on three different things every time.
Bet on even or odd, and on black or red, and also on one of the one-third-of-the-whole-board bets - the chunks or the columns.
Let's say if you have $200 designated to waste, put $5 on each of those things every time. You can play quite a while that way, win or lose.
And of course, if you should get "up," you can add to that a 4th $5 bet on something crazy, like a block of four or something and see if you're REALLY on a roll. It's a lot of fun.Last edited by pdub; November 29, 2012, 05:05 PM.Charter member of the Turd Nuggets
