  • Things You Don't Ask a Hotrodder

I'm sure there's been a thread like this before, but I think it's time to do it again, in real time. Today.

Things you don't ask a hotrodder. I've got two to start:

"Why are you washing that car AGAIN? It's clean already!"

    and

"But aren't the new brakes a LOT more expensive than the used ones?"

Why is your shop so full of stuff?

Why do you want to change things or go faster when it ruins the originality?

Why didn't you just get a (fill in the blank) if you wanted to go fast?

You know that you don't need all that horsepower, right?

What are you compensating for with THAT car?
      Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

why is that camber different than the other one?

why is that exhaust pipe so big?

why is the wheels that close to the fender?

        why is that height?

at least some people ask..before assuming.

Why did you do it THAT WAY?

Or, when are you going to paint it? (to a primered car owner who likes primer)

What do you get out of working on that piece of shit that is always breaking down?

What they fail to understand the " break down time" is actually "upgrade time".
To them anytime it doesn't start is breakdowns...

Rumors of my demise by rollover have been greatly exaggerated.

The version I always got was "Why dont you sell all those old cars and buy a new one?"

It was the most egregious comment in the late 80s and early 90s when cars were utter crap.
