    From a little surfing...looks like the 2500's are 325lbs heavier and 1" taller than a 1500. Add in a larger motor = noticeable change in MPG.
    Of the three guys I knew with 6 liter 2500 trucks, none got better than 13mpg on the highway. (although they may have been considered aggressive drivers!)

    My sister has had a couple of 99-07 5.3 4wd Tahoes and loved them. She claimed to always get 15mpg mixed and high teens in the highway.

    I thought this one looked good.... If the mileage is gonna be poor, might as well go 8.1!
