Car phones weren't that unusual back then. Mostly in big limos because the box behind that controls the phone is the same size as the old American Tourister suitcase that the gorilla had fun with in the commercials.
Back in the '60's local well off business man had one in his Eldorado.
It was basically a rotary dialed phone..........unit in the trunk looked
like a fuel cell. Huge.
I'm sure he didn't have unlimited minutes.

Yup, a GT40! Funny you mention that because I just saw a blip about the car last month. The top re-installed and the car restored, I believe it was up for sale.
