        LOL still only one hater?
I really do have mixed feelings about liking this car.
It really shows how far behind American MFG's are.
TC, what am I missing here?
What STOCK American car has AWD, 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, can carve up twisty mountain roads, and get 25mpg as a daily driver for 25k? I don't think you could beat this with twice the money.

I have always been, and will always be a fan of big American v-8 power, but where I live now, I can't use it much. There aren't any straight roads, and the kind of straight roads are where the State Troopers hang out (yes, we have 2 assigned to my county).
The agility of momma's new ride adds a new level of fun that needs to be experienced on curvy/hilly roads to understand.

We were thinking of getting one too, for a commuter for my wife, its only available in a manual and she spends alot of time in heavy traffic, so she might kill me, they had one at our local dealer in pearl white with 30 large on the window,I really wish an American mfg had something equal to this. Anybody ever drive one of those sporty Ford Focus' ? Any good?

My wife wanted a manual transmission, and loves driving it. Her commute is 84 miles round trip. It's only a matter of time until the speeding tickets commence

The WRX is probably the only Japanese car I would want to own. My wife does like Toyota trucks, though. My wife drives over 60 miles a day and is almost to the point of needing a new(er) car. She does like the new Mazdas. If the WRX got a little better mpg, it would be a possibility.

I think American automakers don't want to invest too much into the AWD market. What little bit they did try to get into the whole "hotrod" FWD market weren't all that great and didn't sell very well. Neon SRT4 and Cobalt SS.

it's easy - when you get spotted having fun in it, it's always the Wife's car... " Wife's car - My Cobra is getting a new rear end, I broke the last one" or "Wifes car - I need a 25.2 cert cage, it's not done yet"

There's nothing un shifty about them compared to the manhood robbing Escape / 4cyl / 5spd I drive a lot. LMAO - now go get some clear corner lamps, and you'll have lots of new friends!

They sure aren't Little cars like they used to be, or maybe that's my eyes playing tricks on me. We have an older STI at work that sounds like a uber-sick VW.

TC - four cylinders don't lack torque when a properly sized turbocharger is feeding them... you've been watching too much Pinks, this isn't a FWD. Mike Reichen's Talon on DW was running solid 11.0 in daily driver this year IIRC, really was a street car, and would hand your ass to you rain or shine. You'd never see it coming, there's nothing flashy about that car. I'd be careful with my wallet..just trying to help you keep it full of benjamins. I'd watch those import and 4 cylinder boys, some of them know what they are doing.

Sorry DWB, I got sidetracked. I'd run the tires off of it.

Monica is driving mine most of the time now - I dig it when girls like manual transmissions. Good catch!

Absolutely nothing wrong with liking that car. If you don't like the idea of an AWD turbo car with a manual transmission that handles better than most "performance" cars, you're doing it wrong.

I have an '03 WRX for a daily driver and love it.

Get a good tune on that car as-is and you'll like it even more.

Neither of TCs camaros would launch as hard as a stock one of these even if it they a 4 link and giant slicks.

OP, wait until you get tired of stock boost levels. There's an inexpensive extra hundred HP waiting in the wings ;-)

(contirbuting to the derailment, I am in Indy this week and yesterday worked on a Ford Escort that runs 10.90s, front wheel drive, on pump gas and nitrous, and is driven to high school every day. Don't discount FWD or AWD or less than 8 cylinders, that means literally nothing).

One of the great performance bargains available. I also would try the BRZ twins, like you did.

But my taste in cars makes me the red headed step child of the BS board.

I'm not a foreign car guy by any stretch, but I did help my buddy Greg put an intercooler & boost controller in his Sube.
He got the ECM reflashed.. & now he's pulled 400hp at the wheels. Here's his '11 WRX on the dyno at Pure Tuning...
