Wow, I'm impressed......must have been quite the event!
And anyone who would pass on a WRX needs their mancard revoked. Traditional muscle it is not, enough fun to make you grin for weeks it is.
Bash not till you have experienced one for yourself - remind me what's not to like about a small light car with big power? Seems a certain ratio comes into play?Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

OP, wait until you get tired of stock boost levels. There's an inexpensive extra hundred HP waiting in the wings ;-)

I have an '03 WRX for a daily driver and love it.
Get a good tune on that car as-is and you'll like it even more.
that boxer will always be in a world of its own.
"like a subaru"
local, the big ones, they get even more crap than a feisty ea82..but maine is a real asshat anyway. I can only imagine what is going to come out of the woodwork with protected by antique status in just a few short years, the 2.0 that made these the champs. I heard one go by that shook windows..at 2 liters. All hidden away, too much trouble on the road.
learning the drivetrain beyond the market plan that hacked alot of weakness embedded..that is where the fun is..just like american hot rodding. It is big dollars and headache otherwise.Previously boxer3main

fookit. I give up. Dude. put it down. Just put it down. You've killed off the slow and weak brain cells and you're getting into the good ones that are left now. You only get so many.... just trying to help. 10's. Ahhh. ya.
DWB, sorry to turd up your thread. I LOVE that your wife wants a hot rod stick shifted AWD ass kicker to get groceries in. There's no need to hang your head in shame, such as I have to do when driving my mom-buggy. Enjoy it man, I totally get it.
I suppose, if you want, we could all call you nancy boy, but it would seem to be a lie given the "Hell yeah, I'd drive it" you see in here.
I'd drive a steam engine freight train to work before I would walk given the choice, so my vote probably doesn't count. lol.Last edited by Beagle; December 14, 2012, 02:36 PM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

Slow 60 foots, playing catch up on the top end, just like all 4 bangers.........
I have a friend with a very hard leaving Falcon, both fronts up at the track 1.7 60fts. Just for fun one Sunday him and one of our co workers who has a (except for tires)BONE STOCK WRX STI went out on a "test track" launched, heated tires, etc and that Subi pulled 2 cars on him everytime, forget it on cold tires, stop light to stop light those cars just flat leave, in a stop light grand prix I have never been able to beat one off the line.
Now catch that thing with the boost down and in the wroung gear......
Ive "raced" 2. Both of them cleaned my clock off the line and both of them ended up 2 cars behind me by the end of 3rd gear. They run low 13s stock IIRC,they get in the 12s for very little $. Out of the whole I would say nothing for sale now (new) will take one,but the Mitsi evo is close. If you,or I, or anybody else hole shoots a WRX STi he didn't know you were racing.
My daughter and I went to a local autocross, sat even with the first slalom cone ,the ONLY cars running that HAD to brake for the first cone were the WRX's. An S2000 Honda was about .7sec overall ahead of all 3 WRXs and was fastest around that day but he just rolled off the throttle to set the front wheels. You could see the speed those thing gained, didn't have to time it.
BTW I like that Blue so much I painted my Mustang that color.

No... Eagle would be the red-headed stepchild. The dude loves AMC EAGLES for pete's sake.
And, btw, i miss my blue '04 WRX. I only sold it because I was drifting it at Bonneville near the bend in the road, and accidentally 4-wheeled it in the huge salt puddle near the access point. It had salt in every damn nook & cranny possible, and I wasn't about to deal with that crap after moving back to New England.
That car was FUN.Last edited by Caveman Tony; December 14, 2012, 06:30 PM.Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?
