David here, I'm a drag racer at heart, it's my thing. I like to build em then try to break em, then fix and repeat.
      Age is 35
guess I could be call'd a tool&die maker by traide but as of now I just build cars and race.
my garage is small, clutter'd, dark and dirty but I seem to get a little bit of stuff done out there. My hot rod Valiant and a duster I use to own

      My project of the week

        Hi All

My name is Harry Stoner (yeah, I know : ) and I'm from Rocklin, CA (just outside of Sacramento). I have the ProStreet Camaro below. This is my first blower car and I'm wondering why it took me so long to see the light. Prior to this, I always thought 'power adder' was somebody at the top of their Accounting class.

I work for IBM as an IT Architect, but that's just what I do when I'm not laying under the Camaro, twisting wrench and wiping paint...

        Nice to meet y'all...

Cool car. I used cruise through Rocklin on the way to Wheatland and Lincoln.

Keep an eye on that guy with garden hose in the background. He's either jealous of your car or wants to report you to the Home Owner's Association for noise violations.

I see lots of familiar names here. I followed a link that the infamous Eddie Miller posted on moparts.com. My husband and I have four children and seven cars, five toys and 2 daily drivers, mostly Mopar but I still have my first car, a clean and completely unmolested '89 Mustang that I got new for a high school graduation present. Young guys always want to buy it but I won't give it up, because not only was it my first car but it was our wedding car and our children came home from the hospital in it.

We also have a '72 Dodge Challenger, my husband's first car that he had back in high school. You can see we don't sell stuff very often. We painted it in our garage this past fall, after hundreds of hours of work on it. It sat for almost 20 years but we hope to have it road worthy in the next year.

Then there is the '76 Dart Swinger, powered by a stock slant six with 170,000 something thousand miles. It burns oil like crazy and runs 19.3's at 68 mph on a good day. It also have severe engine run-on during hot days which is embarrassing in public parking lots. This winter either the slantie will get rebuilt or we will drop a 360 in it, we'll see.

I also have a '73 Plymouth Duster 340, my bracket race and street car. I blew a head gasket and burnt a valve on what turned out to be the last pass of the year...I think next year it will be mostly a street cruiser. LOL. I have a ton of fun with this car, it's my baby.

And we have an '87 Dodge Dakota drag truck, 360 powered for now but will probably end up with one of our 440's. Our website for those interested in our home built hot rods is www.breakstuffracing.com

So that is my long intro. ;D

Welcome Dustergirl. A less embarrassing way to deal with your Dart's run-on issue is to shut the ignition off in gear. Just don't forget to put it in park before you get out of the car or you will have another embarrassing issue to deal with. I had to do this on my old 69 Impala or it would diesel for any where between 10 seconds to 10 minutes then it quit by belching, farting and backfiring out the exhaust. It got the name Uncle Buck because of this, see the movie for an explanation.

LOL, yup, we did figure that out at the end of the year right before we put it away for the winter. :D
The funniest time it did it was when we teched it in at the dragstrip, we shut the ignition off in front of the tech guy and it just kept going and going...I thought it would never stop...but it still passed. haha!

                Thanks for the welcome!

My friend whose car would diesel for hours always claimed it was easier to get started that way. He once left it dieseling while we at a movie then pizza after that. Something like four hours!!!

I let my 231 diesel for about 15 minutes once expecting it to quit eventually....I ended up letting it fire back up and turning if off in gear.
                    Escaped on a technicality.

Four hours? Wow! I thought a minute for dieseling was a long time, especially when people are laughing and pointing at you. ;)

Donny had the unique gift of not caring what anybody thought about him. The only thing he found embarrassing was making a joke no one else got.

My name is Dwayne Bordelon and I live in Chatsworth, Ga. I love street car style racing, I hate Barrett Jackson and misinformed idiots that think their junk is worth Barrett Jackson money. I am a bit of a Manufacturer whore as I have owned them all, but I like chevys and mopars the most. I am a web developer/software engineer by trade. I love people that get it done on a budget and I am a sucker for patina.

Here is my street car :D ;D

Hello! I'm new here. I've subscribed to Hot Rod since 1969, and since it's years under Freiburger were the best ever, I had to follow him here.
I've always been a Hot Rodder at heart, but I dabble in all things automotive, having owned everything from an LS-6 Chevelle (when they were just cheap old cars unfortunately) to a '91 Honda CRX si that I turbo'd long before it was popular. I've owned GM's, Mopars, Fords, AMC's, Honda's, and the newest addition to my stable is a TVR 2500M that I still need to figure out what to do with. I live a mile from the Ohio Summit Racing location, and am trying to finish my garage mahal project that I started 5 years ago!
                                Thanks for listening.
                                Jim
