Cool - it's great to see the variety of cars that come out. I think that I'm going to be in your neck of the woods in a few weeks... should be fun!

First off, I have to say that after lurking here for about a month now, this is by far the most drama free forum on the net. Great place to be!

I am Charlie Marek, and have been into anything that burns gasoline or methanol since I was a kid. Currently located in southwest Michigan, I am originally from Illinois, about 50 miles south of Chicago.

My dad corrupted me early, as he was a circle track racer and always had cool cars and motorcycles. I spent my childhood at the dirt tracks, then got into drag racing in my teens. I have worked in the performance aftermarket since I was 16, and am now 40. Started at a speed shop, then a hot rod shop, performance warehouse, back to a rod shop and now own my own business selling parts and working on hot rods....shameless plug marekspeedandcustom.com

Spent a few years as a crewmember on a WOO sprint car, did the drag race thing for quite a while, and more recently back to sprint cars and midgets (non-wing). I am proud to say that I have never owned an imported car.

Nothing more rewarding for me than firing up an engine for the first time, or the sacred first trip around the block. My personal projects are quite varied and include hot rod vintage garden tractors like David Bradley, Triumph motorcycles, VW trikes or old trucks. Currently collecting parts to do a turbo install on a mid 90's GMC pickup with a 350.

Thanks for having me, looking forward to being here for a while.

                    Brian,

I truly do not remember how I came across this site. What is known, is that I really enjoy this forum and blog alot. Definitely alot of knowledge and talent here, and virtually no drama or know-it-alls. I have ceased to visit one of the largest hot rod forums due to the above mentioned issues. Hopefully you can keep the positive thinkers here.

The car builds here are really great reading. I have an appreciation for anything that someone has poured their heart and talent into. Major props to the guys showcasing their work on here. The daily blog entries are what kept me visiting in the beginning. I will admit to staying out of the forums initially...glad I took a look.

Thanks for keeping this place alive. Maybe one day I will be able to contribute enough here to be considered a true BS'er!

My name is James Shipka and I'm from Calgary, AB Canada (although I think that California is becoming a second home this spring). I decided to check out the site to see if Chad writes as well as he talks (announting at the Goodguys autocross events).

I have a '67 Camaro that I am finishing up now - dialing it in on the autocross and road course tracks of sunny California.

It's coming slowly but surely - after three years putting it together I knew that it would take some time to get the suspension right but we are getting close.

                      Cheers
James: sweet Camaro; welcome aboard. You won't miss the Alberta winters!

Hey Charlie! Welcome to our asylum! Let me say that I was in the same boat as you before I joined. I lurked around for a while on the carjunkietv site then joined as a member here and I'm glad I did. There are definetly a bunch of cool guys and gals here and I've picked up a bunch of ideas and knowledge from many of them on here.

Hi guys, my name is Eric. I use to be a regular at hotrod boards and was kinda happy to see a lot of old timers here. My handle "kotse ni eric" means eric's car in Filipino. I am currently driving a Scion XB daily ... yes a Scion XB for practical purposes :-\, and yeah a VW bug too. On weekends though, I drive a 68 Mercury Monterey ;D

I'm the son of my father Weldandgrind 8). I'm 14 years old and I'm on my schools jr. drag racing team. We have 3 dragsters all with 5-7 horse briggs motors, so I guess you can say we drive realy fast lawnmowers ;D. We go to the track roughly every 2 weeks and drive through the morning test and tune every friday until we hit the eliminaions. I usually get 3 passes a day without driving in the eliminations (I've gotta work on my reaction times more :P). The best part about the track is I get to miss a day of school and watcht cars make passes all day.

I hope I get to talk to all you guys soon

                                Later ;)
