The story of the Saleen.... Hmmm, the way it happened was this, I bought the love of my life (yes, it was a she, and she was a car.) at the auto auction in Nashville. She was a drug seisure from the highway patrol. I fired it up and she sounded soooo mean. No air conditioner, no radio, but it had a six point cage, the exhaust was stainless Borla, and it was a notchback with the whaletail and the Saleen stripes down the hood and side. SEXXXY! There was only one small problem. She was knocking. I figured what the hell, I can fix this, I had to have her. $4100 later, I actaually drove it home, then drove it around for about a month before the knocking got really bad.

I parked it until I could save up enough and bought a stroked out 351 from a local shop that the customer had never paid for, so within three days, I had three speeding tickets and a wreckless driving arrest.

I straightened up for almost two months before I got into a little bit of a race with some of the Sherriff's officers in Rutherford county, Bedford county and finally ending up in the median of I-40 in Davidson county with a very hot car and absolutely no brakes. ( they tend to burn out very quickly when used at 140 mph.)

Anyway, long story short, there were 11 counts of evading arrest and several other lesser charges. But the thing about it is that the car came from a police seisure, and it went to a police seisure. Ahh the joys of being a young and dumb teenager!

Man, I'd hate to pay your insurance or attorney bills !!

Nah, it wasn't that bad, it did cost me a little over 6,000 for the attorney and I had to give up the car, but my lawyer worked uot a deal for me to enlist in the Army. I am glad things worked out the way they did, I am definately a better man for it. Four years in the Infantry gave me a new perspective on life, Hell, 11 years later, I am still utilizing the mind set that the military instilled into me. Great times and some great experiences!

Hey everyone,

My name is Craig Meyer, born and raised in southern Indiana, from a small town called Huntingburg (famous for the movies "A League of their Own" & "Hard Rain"), I've got a wife and 2 daughters 4 & 6. I've been into cars and anything with wheels since I was a kid. I landed a pretty sweet deal in high school working for a guy that had just started a company building air suspensions for hot rods, I didn't know anything about that kind of stuff, but it got me out of a 1/2 day of school for the last part of my senior year so I thought what the hell I'll give it a shot, fast forward 12yrs and I'm still there hocking parts for Air Ride Technologies or Ridetech as we now call it. I've been working behind the scenes here for most of my years making sure the parts we build get built and shipped out, but some of you guys probably know me or have met me out at the various shows we do throughout the year. You'll get to see and hear a lot more of me from now on as I've decided to move back into a sales position here, so please feel free to ask me anything you might want to know and I might have an answer for ya.

A little more on me and my influences. While growing up my old man wasn't much into hot rods but I had several uncles who drag race and restored cars that got me hooked on all things motorized. For whatever reason loud exhaust and tire smoke were like a drug to me and I was addicted. I spent some time hangin around those guys and seeing how cool this car stuff was so I was bound and determined to get into the scene one way or another. I started out playing around with ATVs a bunch and quickly moved into working on whatever I could to gain experience. My dad still complains about all the stuff I took apart and never put back together He eventually gave in and we bought my first project truck a 1976 C-10 that of course neeeded everything replaced, 2 years later she was on the road and I was burning through tires. I regretably sold that ride and went through a bunch more over the years before becoming "responsible" but I still have a couple rides that I've been working on. I quickly realized in high school that becoming a full time meachanic wasn't for me so I luckily landed the job here at Air Ride and have been playing with cars and living the hot rod life ever since. This allows me to keep working on cars as a hobby that I still enjoy and not something I have to do.

A little more on my family if anyone is interested. If your are into concours restorations or BOSS and Shelby Mustangs, my uncle Ed Meyer is big into that scene and along with my dad run a business called Meyer CARS where they restore the rare Mustanges back to what they looked like coming off the production line. They were the ones who sold the Candy Apple Red 69 BOSS 429 for $550K at Barret-Jackson a few years back. I have another unlce Randy Meyer that has been into drage racing since the late '70s and now runs a Top Alcohol rail in the NHRA, he no longer drives but is the team owner and crew chief of Randy Meyer Racing, back in 2002 he set the world record in the A/F class by running a 5.135, he actually builds the chassis's for all his cars himself.

Thanks for joining in the fun and giving Ridetech a "voice" here on the forums! Your uncle is Randy Meyer...that is supremely awesome. He's a legend and must be a neat guy to hear tell stories. He has certainly been there and done that.

Came across the site doing a search on '67 Impalas and stumbled onto a thread by Freiburger about his 67 vert.

I'm a member on numerous sites and this looks like a great site to be a member of.

I've been a car guy my whole life, just don't ever have enough time or money to build them like I wish I could LOL

My current cars are a '99 Grand Prix GTX as my daily, also have a '67 Impala 4dr hardtop with big block and flames and I've owned since I was 16 (my first car). Also have a '52 Ford coupe that was a father/son project that never really got off the ground and it still sits in our yard 14 years later LOL

The car that is the love of my life was my '96 Mystic Cobra that I had built into a show winner, totalled in an accident, and rebuilt into a potential show car again. I was in the process of doing a complete LS1/T56 swap when it was more or less stolen from me and parted out. I wish one day I'll be able to get it back and finish it once and for all.

Thats about it. Hope to meet some good friends on this site like I've made elsewhere on the web.
