I have turn downs in front of the axle now, and it rattles the trunk and is louder than I want it anymore...even with the cheater 3" turbos that are 2.5" diameter inside. Exhaust gasses don't much concern me, since I always have at least one window open.

I like the way Scott's tail pipes are. When the day comes that I put tail pipes on the Chevelle, that is the way I will go. Cut pretty much parallel to the ground, for aesthetic reasons. 2.5" for gas tank and tire clearance, or 3" for both the look and performance is the only question I haven't yet figured out the answer to.

I'm sure turn downs hidden behind the bumper do kick up some dust, but not nearly as much as turn downs in front of the axle.

I like the looks of this Flowmaster system, but wouldn't want the Flowmasters... it's a sound thing.

The old "Torque Tech" system also looks good, but would need the tips of the turn downs cut (for me) .

I like the MOPAR style - but then, I like MOPARS. I, too, would nix the turn-downs ahead of the axle.

If it's too loud you're too old ..... man up buttercup! 3" Flowmasters dumped in front of the axle here .... keeps the unwanteds out of the car.

I think you should have them out the back like a normal muscle car, - but - notch the bumper so they have a nice half round to fit up into, or maybe a rectangular outlet would fit the body lines better. Ya know a cut-off wheel and your welder and you could put it together so it looks factory...........two cents.

I like the turn downs with the pipes out of sight...... Here's what we did on a 55 wagon we're working on..

View from the rear....no hanging pipes

These were made from the 135 degree mandrel bends that came in the flowmaster kit we used.
