  • 900 ton lift

I found this in my local paper, they did this in southern maine.

    900 ton lift

claimed to be a record in america for a shipbuilder.

the overall project was moved at 13000 tons, or 91 locmotive engines.

the claimed record is 1.8 million pounds, 89 feet into the air.

I have driven by there. it seems its all a hill for a good view no matter how you approach it.

I guess that is pretty large. My own memory of large is a tarmac to damn near the horizon with planes filling it.

perspective. I lose it when I should be mainstream.
      1.8 million pounds...
does a 747 get to 500 tons? I forget which jet gets that freighted.

here is a heavy list..airplanes and max weights. 747 is 439 tons.

Too bad the Koreans are doing 2,400 tons on a regular basis.

That is tricky with 4 cranes. Newport News' Big Blue is rated at 1050 tons but only needs 700 to land a CVN island.

That DDG 1000 deckhouse is made of balsa cored composites. A first for the Navy.
