  • CarJunkieTV home/main page suggestions.

Just some friendly, constructive criticisms to help improve CarJunkieTV. ;)

    Scroller.
I have sent the CarJunkieTV link to several of my friends, and a common reply I get is "where is this Burnout Mondays you're talking about?" I have to explain that the hand-drawn-appearing dot on the line with arrows is the scroller.
Yes, I think it's lame that they can't figure it out too, but how many passers by are only seeing the 5 top topics?
Perhaps more familiar scroller is best.

    New.
It's a little "boy who cried wolf" now, as everytime I open the page, I see NEW on the 24hours of Lemons topic and keep seeing old un-updated video from weeks ago..
Some other topics have the same.

    Forum Link.
The CarJunkieTV link we have on the top left corner of the forum would be better if it opened in a NEW window, instead of using this same window.
Reason? Because when you leave this forum, you lose the list of "Show Unread Replies Since Last Visit" which is a good feature that I use often. Not everyone knows or remembers to shift/left-click.
The forum link on the main/home page opens a new window, which is good.

    Any other suggestions?

good suggestions Steve. I have added the "Recent unread topics" to my favorites and when I view the forum it's the first page I see everytime Also a favicon to set the site apart in my favorites would be nice

Despite the irony of DF sending us to youtube to watch their videos, we need some regular refresh of content so when we woo others to come over, they don't immediately watch all the videos and leave.

When you do the lost dragstrip stuff, make a section about it, so people can post updates.

I completely agree but what happens is people view posts on decent threads and don't make comments therefore decent threads drop like stones while folks keep making comments on threads that should have been long dead and buried.

Also, since quite a few here tend to not match their titles with thread content, a mouse-over feature would be nice so that a person could choose to open or not open a thread based on being able to read the first line or two of the content.

I'd REALLY like to see the videos embedded into a forum page where we can talk about them....I did it on my site and I would imagine that the AV kids can do it too.....here's an example:

Guys- 100% of the current homepage will be redesigned in about a month. Sorry we are not focusing on improving what we've got currently since we're in the midst of launching with all the features we'd intended to have the first time, such as hourly news, comment pages right below the vids, archive easily accessible, etc.

We will. I think we know what sucks so far and we are fixing it with the newer design. But please keep any suggestions or critique coming.
