I notice you mentioned safe deposit box instead of firesafe?
The reason I said safe deposit box in a bank is because you can get to the box in the bank after God forbid your house burns down. With a fire safe box in your house after a fire, your house will be condemned and you will not be allowed to enter to retrieve any important papers.

How hot/long can the fire safes keep stuff unburned/charred?

Maybe I'm just a cynic? Hard to wrap my head around something surviving a hot house fire...

I once had to "clean" anAlumaweld jet sled that got torched by an angry wife..

3 large, dry-chem extinguishers - one by every door. Bucket of water near the welding bench (I hate cleaning dry chem)

I haven't insulated my shop because I don't want the fire hazard.....

Why not at least one CO2? No air, no fire and no mess to clean up.

For fire, I use those big tanks that take 2 gallons of water and tested for 400# of pressure.. Put 100# and when the water's gone there's usually enough air to blow it out if the water don't get it..
