With more thought about the whole situation....oddly enough I would respect Danica a whole lot more if she was 45 years old and looked like a Russian tractor factory worker. Yes, she can drive the piss out of a car, what she's already done with Indy cars, yeah, she can drive a lap.

I'm just not enamored with stardom, not impressed by it at all. Never have been. We're all human. I hate superstars. I love to see them lose. On a grand scale. Take, that, SuperPerson. Now, after that crash, do you have to go to the bathroom like all the rest of us would? Yeah, I'll bet you do. But be sure you hide it. You don't want your fans to see that for sure....don't want that to be shown on the next Super Bowl commercial. You might lose some sponsors.

It's a sign of who runs the media. Pretty people get all the attention. Ugly, fat chicks who need a shave don't get any. Take a look at the ladies who all race. Not an ugly one in the bunch in any major racing sanction. They wouldn't get a single sponsor thanks to the same thinking I just said.

If there was one iota of justice in this world; there would be a toothless, mustache sporting hag who had $100 million dollars and raced beating the snot out of everyone on the track every week without a single sponsor.

I'm not sure if the core base didn't get lost in the money. It's not even real any more (NASCAR). You've still got dirt track racers who get into fights and sling fire extinguishers at one another, beat and bang on the dirt track every weekend in the summer.

Guys who put $ 20K of grocery money into an engine running for a $500 purse.

On dirt track ovals. It's still happening. It's not dead. It's just dead on TV, that spirit.

First I'm a Danica fan,but she always seems to have "something" that is a problem thats not "her". Things have to be "perfect" I dont think she has ever driven through a problem.

Now NASCARS not stock cars,what NEW car are they going to race? Pony cars are not sedans,thats what NASCAR historicly is.
What front engine rear wheel drive 2 door are they going to race?
Next flying cars,everybody wants to see 200MPH laps,car turns sideways and lift off! All the aero dams,spoilers and flaps wont do crap if one car ramps off another in the tri oval. But 160-180 mph laps at Daytona will have nothing but a sucking sound from the stands.
Big E years ago said put the fans in the infield and take the plates off,but at the time that would have given about a 215 lap,now with modern areo 230+?,would the drivers do it? Maybe no crowd,TV only?
Truth is the genni aint going back in the bottle,the days of unlimited oval racing ,on big tracks is over. At Daytona they could run off 2 into a big chicane back toward lake Llyod.then a sweeping 90 back into the back strait,with another left into 3,that should scrub 20-30 MPH off the lap and keep them at WOT in the tri-oval. That may also add a braking zone for more passing.

I watched snipets of qualifying.... Gasp.... It's what was on and didn't feel like changing the channel.. Nothing happened to justify 6 pages.... Whatever excites you, I guess..

...Everyone knows what Nascar needs to do to get the fans back. Lower the ticket prices to stupid low levels, force the local hotels to stop price gouging the fans on race weekends, lower prices for beers to below $20 a cup, let the drivers beat the snot out of each other on pit road if they feel the need. And, go back to race cars made from show room stock cars...
