Only the top two positions are locked in, so that would be the smart strategy. Thirty get set by qualifying races (so they're not silly IMHO). The remainder of the field is set by quickest time and provisionals (former champion, etc.)

It's more than NASCAR, it's the media in general. Just now I turned on the tube, local news out of Chattanooga. My timing was wrong. Straight into the NASCAR Minute, with Darrell Patterson (the local sports guy).

Danica (repeat her name six times)......her press conference, surely everyone's seen it before me, was talking about opportunities for young girls to see that they can do absolutely anything they dream of doing.

Sure, If you're born rich and attractive. Do I sound resentful? Yes, but I'm just trying to be realistic, market-wise. I don't understand marketing at all. And that's why I just don't understand the whole deal. what's going on this weekend.

I guess so. But she's misleading all the little girls in the nation thinking you can be ANYTHING you choose. That's just not true. Not in racing, at least. And Danica is jaded because it happened to her, thinking in her young mind, forgetting her path, that it could happen to any young girl.

I'm sorry, it can't Danica. Not to just any young boy either.

I had a chance this afternoon to watch the short races, but I didn't. It's all just too much hype. Way too much.

But Thom, the pileup.. I'll bet she's in it even if she doesn't cause it. After somebody takes her out and ... well, the Big One.

I'm still betting the second lap. Maybe when she's trying to get out of the way and doesn't do so quickly or well enough, maybe even an "accident."
