The 53 has a later 400/400 Pontiac replacing the straight 8. It runs a little rough. I found only 85 lbs comp. in #5. It leaks air out the cylinder audible with the valve cover removed. Hoping for leaky head gasket into the lifter valley (probable), but it's possible it has a broken ring land. (I've had this happen on a 67 400 Buick and a 70 383 Mopar). The 65 has a small laundry list to convert from a pretty face "auction" car to a driver.

If you were going to only give me one I would pick the 65. But I will be glad to take both off your hands!

Nice to see that the 53 didn't get the USRE swap!

                  Dig the 53...

Dad had a black '54 chevy so of course I think your '53 pontiac is the bomb. But, I really dig the Lemans.

The '53 is great. Looks like it needs some sorting but the big chunks are there. Guessing a leak-down test is sort of pointless in this case.

                          Please keep us informed!

The LeMans is nice too. First car fast car I drove fast was a '65 GTO convert so these have a place in my heart.

Now that is something I can get into. I would take the 53 if you were handing them out, already have two 65s. Head gaskets arent a huge problem with these engines. My guess is a burned valve or broken land. I have had burned valves you couldnt hear, pull the head and there it is on a 5C head.

Please feel free to post lots more pics of them.
