  • Vintage Decal and Sticker Thread

How about a thread dedicated to all those cool, iconic and maybe forgotten logos of Speed Part Manufactures, Speed Shops, Race Tracks and Events? I'm talking about vintage water-slide and stickers you have collected or have seen stuck on cars, tool boxes, shop doors, etc.....The more obscure the better, whaddya got?

Might be interesting to add in modern stuff to compare them to the old school ones. Maybe we could trace the evolution of a logo through the years. I have a ton of good stuff to scan and share, so this will be my motivation to do so, until then, here are some photos of some neato ones I've come accross....

              Loren,
Your stickers are very nice indeed but did you have to scrape my Hello Kitty off the Cherokee!
That awkward moment when you realize it IS your circus and those ARE your monkeys!

                            Joe Grippo:

Your are right it is an early decal from Dick's shop. I believe it was somewhere in between 1965 and 1967

I had a few others but Ricky told me I could not sell them because they said Moroso Performance on them so I told him I would use the original name of his dad's shop which is what I did.

Right after that Dick went to work for Jere Stahl out in PA and that only lasted about a 1 1/2 years and then Dick and his wife and the kids moved back to New Cannan Ct. and he opened the store in Greenwich.

I used to hang around his shop on Canal Street and he only had one employee back in those early day's.

Every Saturday afternoon guys would start showing up with their cars on trailers and they all wanted to race Dick's Corvette and the money would start to come out. He used to say that on Saturday's he could make a few hundred bucks taking their money.

I remember Dick telling that he was going to have the skinny front drag race tires made by some company but he had a place an order for a great deal of them. He looked at me and started laughing and said who would buy a drag race tire with an Italian guy's name if!!!!!!!! The rest is history.

                            I miss those day's Jimbo
