    Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

While the new Camaro Z/28 is not intended to compete in a specific race series, it is solely focused on track capability. In initial testing, the Camaro Z/28 is three seconds faster per lap than the Camaro ZL1. That extra speed comes from three areas:

    • Increased grip: The Z/28 is capable of 1.05 g in cornering acceleration, due to comprehensive chassis revisions
    • Increased stopping power: the Z/28 features Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes capable of 1.5 g in deceleration, and consistent brake feel, lap after lap
    • Reduced curb weight: The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1, with changes ranging from lightweight wheels to thinner rear-window glass
    1.05g's cornering, whooffaaa

This week the folks at Chevrolet have revealed the 2014 Camaro Z28 (or Z/28 if you prefer), a beast of a vehicle with a 7.0L…

That is what the Camaro should have been in the first place.

Why do I get the feeling that this stripped down Z/28 will cost more than a fully loaded SS.

300# is a lot of wt out of a late model car. It needs to be about 25k.

Yep.Like a 200 pound girl bragging about losing 5 pounds. LOL
Also it looks like it went thru a Pep Boys with a magnet and a stolen credit card. The frontal height due to the hood is real bad in proportion

Neat piece. With those brakes it will sell at a price between the 1LE and the ZL1 closer the ZL1. Big question, how many, as the dealer 'adjustments' could make them unobtainium.

I think what most fail to realize, as the news is so focused o the Z28, this is also the Camaro facelift. The front and rear changes are not exclusive to the Z28. I like the more slender front, but think I like the previous taillights better. As for the Z28, I don't know, even stripped down its going to be a 3,700-3,800 lb car. Hardly a lightweight.
