A year later, I'm still not good with it. It bugs the hell out of me.

I've carried on about it way too much already, but I'm just not good with it.

I bought a stock production car out from under a tree at the end of our street and took it to Ohio and mashed the gas down all the way and set a speed record that still stands.

That's just not right. I never in my wildest dreams thought that would happen. That's not why I was there. And it was luck, too, with the speed limiter kicking in at 140, to keep me out of Keith's Hall of Doom. Pure luck. By a fraction of a mile per hour.

And you've got guys like Dan Stokes who are really building a ride to set a record in a particular category, trying to find a gap somewhere to sneak in by talent and ability.

No, I don't understand the thing I have in a frame on the wall, and it's right there in a frame. And I look at it. And I like it. But I don't understand that thing. That's just not right.

A whole year later, that's just not right. That just plain ain't right. It's gonna bother me until somebody beats it by 15 mph. Then I'll be okay.

I look at my local news on the net every day.Always a big annoying ad at the top.

Today there is a car boasting a foreign 1.8 liter.
the very nightmare I ran from 25 years ago... a sideways inline jackhammering 1.8 freaking liter.

there is a lot of gaps. Tradition does not often go with the modern drama/dilema.

I can't, unless.....roll cage, five point harness, fire suit, all that stuff. That's where it gets to be big.

Like Matt pointed out to me, 139.999 is the line in the sand. If you go 140 with a stock three point seat belt Keith will show you the door and that'll make a bruise on your ass that won't heal soon. Or ever.

And Like Matt pointed out, nobody wants to build an engine that small. 4.6L = about 281 ci. If it's about a record, I don't see why nobody goes for that one. It's a duck. A sitting duck. Same block, a carb and a shot of nitrous, it's a pushover, WITH all that other stuff to go with it of course. The other suff nobody (including me) wants to buy and put on there.

Well Pdub, be thankful that you havent built something that will go so fary beyond the tech requirements that it would be cheaper and easier to build something else to race.

Just buy Red2 and use that for the hard stuff, like road racing and Ohio... That way, you still have Red1 to tool around in and look purty..
