    Very cool!

In 1997 I was looking nationally for a '66/67 box Nova - love em. Found a tasty one outside of Sacramento... but, there were some things I couldn't look past. The guy told me of a buddy of his who just completed a frame-off resto of a '64 Chevelle SS. Long story short... I bought the Chevelle. Have had the ride going on 17 years. Don't drive it much - but, when I do, I flog the hell out of it.

Let's see...deeply ingrained car roots...lots of iron over the years that didn't belong to me. There's two strains of car I usually own: "new" or "daily driver" and "hot rod". Sometimes they cross, not often. So, here's the history of my hot rod line:

        '76 Camaro *no pic*
        Two '78 Cutlasses *no pic*
'73 Merc Comet GT *no pic*

1999 Chevy Blazer 2dr *not worthy of a pic*

And, no kidding, that's barely scratching the surface.
        Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

I was going to ask why you left the Mirada out.
          I'm probably wrong

Mine still is! Thanks Grandma! The only car she liked better than the Baccaruda was her 32 Ford Coupe. go figure.

In the 60's, when I was 10-12 yrs old I'd daydream about a blue fastback Vette. It had blue glass and the nose kicked up a bit like cars that were on the dragstrip back then. If I was bored in school, the old man was bitching, or a rockin song was on the radio I'd always think about that blue Vette with blue glass. So, after many many Vettes I built this one to that blueprint around 9yrs ago

I've always liked the 37-38 Chevy much more than the Fords of that era. So, 5 yrs ago, when I was offered this un-finished 38 in a trade I jumped on it like a bum on a bolony sandwich

Uncle Groucho, why does your Chevy have a Pontiac steering wheel?

That's something the guys mighta done in the 50's, before dress up items were made available. Kinda like getting Caddy hubcaps from the junkyard to doll up other, more plain models way before aftermarket wheels were around.

I wanted a Falcon since I first saw my '63 Futura hardtop in the late 70s when I was maybe 7 years old. I would see it now and then, and I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen with it's Boss 302, Chrysler 727 trans, aluminum slots and radiused wheel wells. It was for sale when I was 16 but I couldn't afford it and my father wouldn't let me get it anyway because of it's rep. So I ended up buying a stock '60 2 door with low mileage. After I graduated school I tracked the '63 down and bought it. I still have the 60 and the 63 as well as a '63 Fairlane Squire that is my current project. Also in the stable is a '56 Pontiac hardtop, another '63 Falcon Futura, '66 Mustang fastback, '71 Chevy C10, some motorcycles and my 04 Silverado RCSB.
