  • Rockefeller's '39 Packard Convertable

Stopped by the upholstery shop this morning to check on the bucket seats.

Billy had this '39 Packard convertible there.
A straight 8 car that has been in the Rockefeller family since purchased new.
It had a bunch of old stuff in the glove compartment from back in the '40's......maps etc.

It's going through a $175,000 resto to be given to one of the grandsons for graduation.

Cool car.......interesting graduation gift, although it has lots of family history.

Lucky guy! Packards were great cars and he can actually drive it if so inclined. Technically, I think that's a cabriolet, BTW, as the window frames stay in place when the top is lowered. Maybe Hemi Joel has better info than I do on this piece of auto trivia.

The recipient of the car is Colin, he is of the Winthrop branch. It has 54 miles on the original odometer. And a sweet three speed on the collar
