An LTD is pretty much just an old Crown Vic!

The mention of Chevrolets and 'C' names prompted me to remember as many as I could:
Corvette, Custom (C10), Cameo, Citation, Camaro, Cobolt, Cavalier, Colorado, (El) Camino, Corsica, Conquistador, etc.

And sticking with the topic (somewhat), some had more than one name:
        Chevelle - Malibu.
        Caprice - Impala.
        Corvair - Monza.
        Chevette - Pile of __it.

Then you have the opposite absurdity – overuse of a recognized name.

In 1988 you could buy one of the following Oldsmobile "Cutlass" models, all of which were based on entirely different platforms.
          Cutlass Calais - FWD N-body
          Cutlass Ciera – FWD A-body
          Cutlass Supreme – FWD W-body
Cutlass Supreme Classic – RWD G-Body

Malibu is a Chumash indian word for loud surf. Impala is a type of deer or antelope, supposedly fast, i.e. Cheetah bait. Caprice means a sudden movement without action, aka unintended acceleration.

Corvair is a totally made up word. Probably a mix of Corvette because of its independent rear suspension similar to the Vette and the Air as in air cooled engine. Who knows.

I know Cutlass is a type of sword. It has a slightly curved blade that has a channel it the blade sides to allow blood to flow out of the guy you just stabbed.
