Step #1: Purchase a transmission filler funnel - the kind with the long flexible tube attached to the funnel part. A metal one is preferable to plastic(especially in cold climates) and preferably not of Chinese manufacture.

Step #2: Drill a hole in garage wall at - um - unit height. (You can always do a second one a little bit lower if you want to make a wheel-chair accessable version.) Take care to drill in an area that will not be frequented by passers - by. Definately away from sidewalks or your vegetable garden.

Step #3: Insert funnel through hole drilled in garage wall - pointy part facing the outdoors. Caulk or silicone around tube to avoid insects or cold winds making use uncomfortable.

Step #4: Have a couple more beers then test installation.

          ;D

Re: Top tools you must have in the shop

I have quite a few tools for someone living in an apartment with no garage, but I do have a small list I could right away.

            Engine stand
            Engine hoist
            120 volt mig welder

My wish list includes almost everything else listed in this thread.

Top tool on my list is: An air hammer !
This is not on my want list, believe me I have one and keep it outside of the tool box and try to make it a point of using it every day on something if at all possible. Thats become my agenda lately . So many air hammers are wimpy and buzzy little noise makers but this bad boy can hurt almost anything. It is amazing what will loosen up or become agreeable when threatened with a few harsh raps from a chisel or blunt .

I gave the snap-on mig welder that I did have to dagensta !
We have a big mig welder and a 100 ton press ,other handy stuff in at work and besides that keeps "my" electric bill low.

the air hammer - forgot that one!

totally awesome tool to have -especially for removing old bearing races, or busting loose anything old, rusty and stubborn....

I need to get a flat bit for mine - or a 'blunt' as some folks call it - not sure where to shop for such a thing.
There's always something new to learn.
