My wife tolerates my low brow and car related art items that I have bought for the house and garage, some of which have been on the upper end moneywise. what was the most outrageous auto related item you have bough t as far as racing memorabilia or hot rod art, and how did you explain it to your better half?
What's the most expensive auto related item you have bought that wasn't a car or part

It's funny how you supposedly have to explain it to your better half. Of all the people I know that have to do the same......their other half never seems to explain their wasted spending on shoes, purses, etc. Why is that? Why is it the male's supposed duty to explain to the wife but not vica versa?STUGOTSComment

No shit. Wife goes and buys a Harley and never runs it by me. Do I care, not one bit. I buy a Mustang to replace my worn out money pit of a gas hog truck and it has been a source of contention for 2 years now.
I buy my self lunch at Subway a couple times a week and I get bitched at but she buys an ipad and ANOTHER Coach bag (to the tune of 700 bucks) and somehow thats fine.
I still purchased my Mustang and I still buy myself lunch...often....
back to the OP.....I dont really spend money on car related non car items. I have a few metal signs that I got on clearance from a local hobby store...those were 30 bucks....I have a few toy cars that total about 30 or 40 bucks...Last edited by JOES66FURY; June 5, 2013, 05:37 AM.If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment

for me it would be gauges or tools.
AFR digital has come down to near 200. A small invertor type mig welder, the same.
peewee hit the nail, the car garages attached or not to a house, cost a bit more every year.Previously boxer3main

My wife has so many pairs of shoes you'd think I was married to a centipede.Originally posted by groucho View PostIt's funny how you supposedly have to explain it to your better half. My GF spent $56 on an out-of-print paperback copy of Smokey Yunick's "Power Secrets".... including postage.... the friggin' Post Office LOST it for three weeks, FOUND it under a cart or dumpster or something, RE-PACKAGED it by putting it in a NEW envelope complete with ANOTHER postage tracking number... and it arrived a month late, complete with new tears and wheel marks on the back cover.
but... ....it was a gift... a MUCH appreciated gift...Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?
