  • '69 Karmann Ghia Ragtop

Going to go look at one this week.
In a barn, hasn't been seen since '87.

I've seen some restored ones in the past and not a
    bad looking ride.
Rag top would be cool to buzz around in.

    Anybody restored/have one of these?

Love the look of a 60's Ghia and they can be hot rodded to be really fast, but I wouldn't feel very safe in one in today's traffic.

Here is a link to one I saved from the crusher. The link is from the guy who bought it from me.......he did an awesome job and is a real good guy. I'm the one on the trailer helping tie it down.

My dad had a '68 Ghia drop top back in the mid '70's as a second car. It was a cramped beater with a tiny backseat, but it was fun to drop the top and cruise around in. Kind of a poor man's Porsche 356.

          I'd do one,
I took on an 80s ricer for the boxer, the steel is a tragedy.
I still think of the vw.

The inner one is original 1987, the outer is an exploded 2007. I only guessed once adding a crystal oscillator ignition (digital), any lack of contentment was going to get a dry hammer. This was the spot. I can bang the rest of it with a 22 ounce hammer. This literally cracked and blew out.
The old steel, like in VW, is still much better off. This is over doubled, and extra baffle, and a metal rod lining the bottom seam. 3rd time will get this into the 20-25 year run again. American 16 gauge sheet steel. This one chore was a real nuisance. I worked something on this one rocker, once a year for the past six.
the replacement was brand new...watched it die.

I'd say good call on the selling yours Stiney. I never want to work that hard. Those that do, my hats of to you. Cute cars though when in nice shape. Kind of reminds me of a Speedster.

                I've lowered my expectations.
They said to bring wasp spray.
