  • Sheetmetal Project

Thought I'd post a pic of a center console I just finished for a friend/customer's Chevy shortbed...

18ga. steel...pressbrake, hammer, tig-weld, grind. No filler. The "stuff" compartment will be lined w/ carpet same as interior, an aluminum plate goes around the shifter and the rear will be trimmed off depending on where amps etc. mount. The compartment lid is strong enough for somebody to sit on. ECM and all electronics mount on the floor underneath. It'll work with the style of the existing interior: metallic blue paint, a little alum. trim, grey upholstery.

Installed for now...still needs paint etc. and a neater wiring job.

        nice work.

that is also a resonance keeper if the tranny is straight cut, or an oddity as dual range etc etc.

Nice stuff. I am pondering similar for an old Subaru, could add to tunnel strength depending on how it is mounted as well.

There is a big opening for two levers.

That was a thought. The mounts sandwich the carpet and dynamat, and he'll probably put more dynamat inside.

                That's plumb gorgeous Loren.

Now, build me a whole car that will go REAL fast and look like that at the same time. I'll let you know when you get through if I have enough money to buy it from you....after a test drive of course.
