  • Finally done - 57 Suburban

I'm pretty much finished with my 57 Suburban. In case you haven't seen the project thread, it's a truck I bought 15 years ago, got halfway done, piddled with over the years, and mostly sat around taking up space in my shop. I've been cleaning up around here, and I was planning to sell it since I figured I'd never get it done. Then I started working on it again, and decided it's a neat truck and I should finish it. So, that's how I spent the last month, 7 days a week, 12 + hours a day.

I guess I need to start a thread for this, since I'm working on it again after several years. My 1957 Suburban. I bought it in 1998 for a grand up in Globe AZ.

This is what it looked like a month ago. It was pretty far along, the chassis was done, the bodywork on the shell was mostly done, but I still needed to fix the doors, and the front sheet metal. And pick an engine, and figure out a few other mechanical details.

That is a great looking truck, magazine worthy! I look at the beautiful interior paint and all I can think of it must have really sucked painting in a confined area.

Having had the pleasure of hanging out with Jim, I can tell you he's all that and bucket o' beer. Nice guy and (obviously) highly talented - and ACTIVE!

Jim - do you have a rear seat for it? It would be fun to ride in one of your cars w/o doing the Limbo under the shoulder bar!
