I have some issues of Cartoons, it was hard to find in my area...i would spend days searching for them....check Ebay...there are lots that come up from time to time pretty cheap.

My brother and I used to get our Mom to buy the latest issue at the grocery store. After reading, we used to trace Trosley's cars on to notebook paper with a sheet of carbon paper. Still enjoy K&B in Car Craft.

Went through my old mags today, didn't find them. But, I did find 16 "Hot Rods and Racing Cars" comic books! Any body remember those? Sorry thread derail.

Yep, I went from comics to Mad to Cartoons to all the "drag" mags of the 60's

Van Nuys Blvd around that time was PACKED. 3 wide both directions and damn near bumper to bumper from the North turnaround at the McDonalds (just South of Sherman Way) to the South turnaround at the car wash (just South of Burbank Blvd).....+ the many cars that continued South to turn around at June Ellens (just South of the 101). If you wanted to do a little lite to lite jousting you'd have to be the 1st 2 cars at a lite and hold back traffic for maybe 2-3 red/green phases to allow enough space for a short 1-2 shift match race(and shutdown right as you clicked 3rd)

I wish there was actual film footage of that era.

I found this, clips from the movie. Looks like they used actual footage.

                      The whole movie.

Click on the YouTube button on the lower right. I had to turn off the sound, really shitty music.
The highlight for me was at 3:21...The lit up Super Shops with the Funny Car out front. Cool.

Kids these days are so helpless. Here you go, Groucho. Ignore Grippo. He has no taste in disco.
