  • Sister's first car

So my sister turned 18 today, and I really wish I hadn't gotten hurt, I'd not have bought the AMX, and I'd have enough money to buy my sister a car, I don't know why I want to buy her a car, but I do.
We were talking on FB, and she really likes THIS

Not a good idea for a first car, but man, at that price, I really wish I could get it for her

Rumors of my demise by rollover have been greatly exaggerated.

nice one. my first car was a delta88. floating along, dreamy. Not sure how gm did it, but thy all whistle around 90 and onward. How did they do that. Swaying gently like on a cloud.. and there is that whistle.

I considered it a long time ago, but the Eagle means too much to me, and she's also not exactly the safest car at the moment, front end needs a lot of work.

Your sister would need to have a good paying job to keep that boat in gas. 455's generally got 10 mpg city driving.

Not to mention parking skills. These days, parking lots have smaller spaces that make docking a land yacht more challenging.

Which means by the time she got a practical car, she'd appreciate fuel mileage and be a master at parking

If your sister learned to effectively drive that she'd have learned enough to be a better driver than most on the road these days. Learn to drive a tank that doesn't turn on a dime and you'll have learned the skills to drive any vehicle you'll ever get in the future. Many soccer moms today learned to drive in Cavaliers or Escorts and never learn how to drive anything of size and now they have the largest SUV or minivan available and NEED rear view cameras to back out of a parking space or driveway, they do not know how to use the outside mirrors or what the one on the windshield is for, it's not putting on make-up.

Then buy her a car that has no power steering, four wheel non power drum brakes, and a three speed stick on the column. Like an old Dodge Dart.

this is after doing a 10 point turn just to get it in there

Wrong year but still a good derby car...needs a 5mph bumper swap!
Be very good on the road..

It's amazing enough to me that some kids these day even WANT a car, or even a driver's license. I've heard of more than a few that just figure somebody will always be there to take them wherever they want to go.

The reason I back into spaces. Did this all the time in the work Suburban too. Put it close to the passenger side of the car beside me so I can get out of the driver's side. Also, like a forklift, it turns sharper in reverse.

Mostly, if a space is too small it's because some lazy, no talent parked crooked in the space.

It's funny how the closer to the door they are, the worse they park. At least this is my observations at the big box stores, sometimes you can't shop local.

There's an old saying: If they (have sex) like they park, somebody's got a sore (rear end).
