  • Junkyard guru's step inside

looking to make a list of make models (g.m)
this frontwheel drive trans/axle came in
    87-90 th400-4 (4t60 )RPO code "ME9"

as the later ones are electrionic and need a controller

The hydraulic controlled units (m.valve and t.v. cable)
where used '84-90 but the 87-90 are stronger, past 90 it goes to ecu controlled

want to hunt when on junkyard crawls , as this give me O/D in the fiero and drop the RPM's from 3200 at 60

thanks, (no one around here has hollanger manuals anymore)

I have the Identification tag numbers/codes list from 87-92 that have the 3.33 final drive
Where on these would that "tag" be..?

you were probably reading this - the tag on the dash should have a transmission code on it

      GM TH440 / 4T60 4 speed automatic with 3.33 final drive
      Year Identification Tag Number
      1987 7ACH, 7CAH
      1988 8AJH, 8CDH, 8CFH, 8CMH, 8CRH, 8CTH, 8CWH, 8CXH
      1989 9CDH, 9CLH. 9PAH, 9PBH, 9YAH, 9YBH, 9YFH, 9YJH
      1990 0AJH, 0CHH, 0CJH, 0KHH, 0LAH, 0LMH, 0LNH, 0PAH, 0WXH, 0YDH,
      0YHH, 0YKH, 0YLH, 0YRH, 0YSH, 0YTH
      1991 1WXH, 1YAH, 1YDH, 1YHH, 1YSH, 1YTH
      1992 2YAH, 2YBH, 2YKH

If you plan to rebuild the 4T60 transmission and the final drive unit in your original TH125C transmission is the right ratio there may be a solution. GM likes to reuse parts whenever possible to reduce their costs. In designing the 4T60 transmission the final drive of the earlier TH125C was reused. The final drive and the sun gear from the TH125C will work in the 4T60. The ring gears of the two transmissions are different and will not interchange. This is not a problem since the planetary gears will fit either ring gear unit. Keep the 4T60 ring gear and have your transmission rebuilder assemble it to the TH125C sun gear and final drive.

That's where I got the tag list.
just wasn't sure of the models they be in. thanks..
I suck at google, no Idea what I do wrong, but I never get the correct "hits" near the top of the list of 2 billion.

try Bing. Seriously. I use both. The other thing is - believe it or not - put MORE words in your query in the form of a question. It seems counter-intuitive for a guy that spent 20 some odd years finding things with queries like "repadmin removelingeringobjects" or "IloveBunny32" but if you put it in like"Which cars had a 4T60 transmission" sometimes it filters out a lot of junk for you.
